Beach Patrol reinterprets the iconic New Jersey lifeguard hut in a contemporary residential form-a fitting concept for a client who spent years as a lifeguard. Much like the huts that stand watch on the shoreline, the house rises above grade, perched on a lifted base for protection and vantage. Overscaled glass openings become the lookout windows, framing expansive views toward the Atlantic Ocean, while the cantilevered rooflines exaggerate the protective canopy above. At the top, the expansive roof deck becomes the modern crow’s nest-a place of surveillance, gathering, and connection to the sea and sky. The crisp geometry and wood-like cladding embody the simplicity and spirit of the iconic hut.
